January impressions of a garden in Venice

Dear Readers,

We're starting the new year with an early January view of one of my favorite gardens in Venice. A small but very lived-in garden, shrouded in ivy and American vines in summer, and whose foliage you can still make out early in the year.

Our blog A Garden in Venice is back in 2025, and while we're updating the existing articles, some of which date back to 2012 (!), we're also preparing a mini guide on Venetian gardens for you.

You can find a post dedicated to this blog in late January, as well as the schedule for this year and the link for you to download the mini garden guide. Buon Anno - here's to a wonderful year of learning about gardens in Venice ahead!

You can still make out leaves in the gardens of Venice in early January. Actually, these gardens will almost never look bare as on average, about half of plants growing in the gardens of the Lagoon are ever-green.
